We are LEAF – the Louisiana State Youth Advisory Board. We advocate on behalf of current and former foster youth, change services that impact individuals involved in foster care throughout our work in the state and community, and Empower youth and young adult voice through our organization’s mission, vision, and goals!
Mission
- Advocate with current and former foster youth to unite voices, and Change policies, laws, and perceptions in order to Empower youth to become leaders and reach their full potential.
Vision
- Utilizing negative experiences to facilitate positive changes for foster youth in order to build a world/community where everyone has the right to safety, supportive services, a loving home/caregiver, permanency and overall well-being in which they are able to build a successful future.

Membership Requirements
- Members can be current or former foster youth that were in care between the ages of 12-18 years old and were in care for at least six months.
- Must have demonstrated leadership through advocacy or youth support work and a passion to advocate at any capacity.
- Members should be flexible and have good time management skills.
- Members should be diverse and from all of the regions.
