Parents & Guardians

DCFS Louisiana provides programs and services to help parents protect their children and build stable, supportive homes.

Too often, families don’t discover these resources until they’re already in crisis. Our goal is to make sure you know support is available before things reach that point.

Family Services

Family Services are designed to help parents create safe, stable homes. Services may include in-home support, parenting resources, safety planning, and referrals to community programs.

When concerns arise, our first focus is working to address them, because permanency and belonging start at home.

Concerned about a child’s safety?

It takes courage to speak up. That courage can change a child’s life. If you believe a child is being abused or neglected, report it.

Child Support Services

Children deserve consistent financial support from both parents. The Child Support Enforcement program helps establish paternity, set support orders, and collect payments so children can rely on the stability they need.

Whether you’re applying for services or managing an existing case, you’ll find tools and answers here.

Support That Strengthens Families

Stable families are where strong futures begin. Most families want to do right by their children—and with the right support, they can. Whether you need parenting resources, assistance navigating a difficult situation, or information about what DCFS involvement actually means, we’re here to walk you through it.

Safe Sleep for Infants

Each year, babies die from sleep-related causes that are preventable. DCFS provides Safe Sleep education to help parents and caregivers understand the steps they can take to reduce risk and protect their baby.
