Program Description

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) offers a service in which contact center agents send a one-time SMS message to clients during an active phone call. The message contains a link to an official DCFS government web form on dcfs.la.gov (opens in a new tab) relevant to the caller’s case. Messages are sent only at the caller’s explicit verbal request during the live call.

Opt-In Process

Consent to receive an SMS message is obtained verbally during an active inbound phone call with a DCFS contact center agent:

  1. The caller contacts DCFS via the customer service phone line.
  2. During the call, the agent identifies a relevant DCFS web form that may assist the caller.
  3. The agent asks the caller: “Would you like me to send a text message with a link to this form to your mobile number?”
  4. The caller verbally confirms they would like to receive the text message.
  5. The agent sends a single SMS containing the form link to the caller’s mobile number.

No messages are ever sent without the caller’s explicit verbal consent during the live call.

Message Frequency

One (1) message per request. There is no recurring or subscription-based messaging. Each SMS is a one-time send initiated solely by the caller’s request during a live phone call.

Opt-Out

Reply STOP to any message to opt out of receiving future SMS messages from DCFS. You will receive a confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
