Charles Watkins
Assistant Secretary for Family Support
Charles Watkins was appointed DCFS Assistant Secretary for Family Support in January 2026 and oversees the Child Support Enforcement and Access and Visitation programs.
A native of New Orleans and graduate of McDonogh 35 Sr. High School, Watkins has spent his career in public service. He has more than 13 years of legal experience, including roles as a trial attorney and supporting government agencies. He joins DCFS from the Louisiana Department of Health where he served as a Regional Attorney.
Watkins believes deeply in the dignity of public service. He and his wife have three children who keep them very busy.
