Child Support Rules in Louisiana
The Louisiana Child Support Guidelines determine the amount of money that you must pay or that you will receive for child support. These rules always apply when a judge is deciding how much money you have to pay or will get. The rules can be found in Louisiana Revised Statutes section 9:315.

Child Support Schedule Updates
The legislature must review child support guidelines occasionally to ensure they remain applicable to Louisiana families and comply with federal law. DCFS, the Louisiana District Attorneys Association, and the child support committee work together to collect the necessary information. They are required to submit their report to the Legislature sixty days before the regular session every four years. LA R.S. 9:315.16
Updates to the guidelines could include everything that goes into figuring out an amount. If there have been changes to a guideline that affect you, your child support order may be eligible for a modification.
