Receive a 30-cent produce bonus for every SNAP dollar spent on fresh fruits and vegetables at participating stores.

 

 

What are SNAP produce bonus benefits?

Starting April 14, all SNAP recipients who shop at Walmart locations in Ascension, LaSalle, Sabine, Tangipahoa, Webster, and West Carroll parishes will receive a 30-cent produce bonus for every SNAP dollar spent on fresh fruits and vegetables. SNAP shoppers can get up to $25 a month in SNAP produce bonus benefits. The program is part of the Electronic Healthy Incentives Project (eHIP) to encourage SNAP recipients to make healthy food choices.

After you have reached $25, you will not receive any more produce bonuses that month. The $25 limit resets on the first of each month.

11. How do I keep track of my produce bonus benefits?

Your SNAP produce bonus balance will printed be on your receipt, including your month to date total.

12. Why is the starting SNAP balance on my Walmart receipt different than my SNAP account balance?

Walmart adds your produce bonus to your SNAP starting balance, so it may look wrong on your receipt. Your ending balance, transaction amount, and SNAP produce bonus will be correct.

13. Is there a deadline to use the SNAP produce bonus?

Produce bonus benefits work like regular SNAP benefits and expire after 274 days.
