Community Partners

Overview

DCFS Community Partners are a collaborative network of community-based organizations that serve as 1) SNAP Application Assisters for guiding individuals through the application process (depending on selected partner level) and 2) resource centers for information and materials related to Division of Family Support programs and services.

Partner Levels

Bronze Partner logo

As a Bronze level partner, partner responsibilities include the following:

  • Make informational materials and resources available to clients, such as SNAP applications and instructions, program brochures and pamphlets, and pre-paid Document Processing Center envelopes. These materials will be provided to you by a Community Engagement Consultant.
  • Offer a computer if one is available for public use for applicants to enter their own information in the online application. It is not necessary for your staff to be available to answer questions.
  • Offer a pre-paid Document Processing Center (DPC) self-addressed stamped envelope to clients to mail applications, verification documents, etc. to a local DCFS office.
  • Provide applicants with a place that affords sufficient privacy to complete the application without compromising confidential information.

  • May make other office equipment such as telephones, fax machines, copiers, etc. available to the applicants to carry out DCFS program business.

 

Silver Partner logo

As a Silver level partner, partner responsibilities include all requirements listed for the Bronze level plus the following:

  • Make at least one computer available with Internet access for clients to enter their own information in the online application and have partner staff available to answer questions during the process.

 

Gold Partner logo

As a Gold level partner, partner responsibilities include all requirements listed for the Bronze and Silver levels plus the following:

  • Have partner staff available to enter application information on behalf of the applicant upon request.

Interested in becoming a Community Partner?

Community Partners do not determine eligibility for DCFS program benefits. DCFS will be responsible for processing all applications completed at a Community Partner site. This includes conducting case interviews, determining eligibility for benefits, notifying applicants and clients of decisions, and all subsequent casework.

  • Fill out this form form and one of our Community Engagement Consultants will contact you to discuss next steps.
  • The Family Support Community Engagement Unit will consider all submissions, interview potential partners, and determine partnership suitability for all interested organizations.
  • After becoming a DCFS Community Partner, a Community Engagement Consultant will coordinate a visit to provide you will signage/posters, a window decal, pamphlets and brochures, paper applications, and DPC envelopes.
