A new rule that takes effect April 1 will require some Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients to meet new federal work requirements to continue receiving federal food assistance, commonly known as “food stamps.” The federal government also has granted a waiver for 14 Louisiana parishes that will not be impacted by the new rule change.

A federal cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to Social Security and veterans benefits for 2020 will result in decreases to some Louisiana residents' Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, also known as food stamps, as well as benefits received through the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP).

More Participation, More Money to Children in 2nd Year of 'On the Road Again' Child Support Project

Collections during DCFS' second annual "On the Road Again" child support project increased by 85% this year, with 291 payors paying $360,456.42 in current and past-due support. The money will benefit 365 families with 480 children.
