11.22.11 - To cap off Adoption Awareness Month, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has been awarded more than $1.3 million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the third year in a row. This award is given for increasing the number children in the state's foster care system that were placed into permanent adoptive homes.

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), reminds mandated reporters of their responsibility and that DCFS' statewide, toll-free child abuse hotline, 1-855-4LA-KIDS, is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for anyone to report suspected abuse or neglect.
