On the Road Again with Child Support
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is holding a limited-time promotion to help parents who have lost their driver's licenses due to unpaid child support. The On the Road Again initiative offers noncustodial parents whose licenses have been administratively suspended by DCFS an opportunity to have them reinstated for a reduced fee. The program ends October 31, 2024, and all payments must be received by that date. Noncustodial parents interested in participating are encouraged to make an appointment with their child support caseworker to find out how much they must pay to qualify for the promotion.
Eligibility and Requirements
For each case, noncustodial parents must pay:
Two months of court-ordered child support
$100 toward past-due support
Administrative fee (if court-ordered)Note: This amount does not include any reinstatement fees from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV).
How to Get Started
- Complete and submit this online form.
- Send a message to their caseworker on our online CAFÉ portal (www.dcfs.la.gov/cafe).

History
2019: Collections during the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services' (DCFS) second annual "On the Road Again" child support project increased by 85%, with 291 payors paying $360,456.42 in current and past-due child support. The money benefitted 365 families with 480 children.
2018: During the inaugural 6-week project in 2018, DCFS collected $193,882.30 in child support from 195 payors, giving 249 families needed support.
