INFANT MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING

This training utilizes vignettes and video demonstrations to highlight skills and techniques for working with infants. Real life scenarios, practical application and examples are useful when discussing factors relative to a child’s development, attachment and relationships. The training encourages participants to consider the roles of natural helpers, caregivers and professionals and how each impacts the lives of children and caregivers. Participants should make arrangements to attend all training sessions. The training will be offered in a three part series, with two day increments.
January 26: Infant Mental Health 1 (overview, social-emotional development, attachment, values)
January 27: Keys to Caregiving (Please bring the “Keys to Caregiving Study Guide” provided by the LCWTA to this session.)
February 17: Infant Mental Health 2 (social and cultural impact on parenting, parenting styles and roles)
February 18: Infant Mental Health 3 (psychopathology)
April 5: Infant Mental Health 4 (assessment: environmental, parent, infant, relationship)
April 6: Infant Mental Health 5 (implications and interventions)

Employees wishing to attend this training must complete and submit a Workshop/Conference Request Form with the appropriate signatures to DCFS.CWTraining@LA.GOV no later than the close of business on Friday, January 8, 2016.Selected participants are required to make a commitment to attend the complete
all training sessions from Tuesday, January 26, through Wednesday, April 6, 2016.
