CHILD WELFARE NEW WORKER ORIENTATION (Group 2015-06)

The Child Welfare New Worker Orientation provides fundamental knowledge and skills needed for Child Welfare service delivery common to CPS, FS, and FC program areas. This series will include program specific information to assist in introducing new Child Welfare staff to their daily tasks and duties while employed at DCFS
DATES: Monday, June 15, 2015, through Friday, August 28, 2015. Training on Mondays will begin at 12:00 noon and end at 4:00 pm. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays training will begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:00 pm. On Fridays trainings will begin at 8:30 am and end at 12:00 noon.
Participants will be registered to attend all dates listed below. Training locations are subject to
Week 1 – Foundations of Child Welfare Practice (Safety Focused Practice), ACESS, and Documentation. June 15-19, 2015
Week 2 –Building Family Engagement, Legal Issues and Court Preparation, Secondary Trauma, and Worker Safety July 13-17, 2015
Week 3 – Child and Adolescent Development, Separation and Placement, and Physical Indicators August 10-14, 2015
Week 4 Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Domestic Violence, and Specialized Training Week (All Programs) August 24-28 , 2015

Special instructions: New Child Welfare employees and their supervisors will receive an email notice from DCFS CW Training regarding their registration for these trainings. Space is limited to the first 24 new Child Welfare hires. Please refer to TRAINING MEMORANDUM (TM 15-033)
