2015

Child Welfare Law Advanced Institute Multi-Disciplinary Training: Safety Decision Making training will provide information about the DCFS implementation and usage of a new research-based “safety focused” approach to child abuse and neglect cases. It is designed to provide a consistent methodical standard for child safety decision-making that engages caretakers in insuring the safety of their children. It is an assessment versus incident-based model and safety is assessed throughout the life of the case. The goal of this implementation is to keep children who are or can be made safe at home from going into foster care and to ensure that children remain in care ONLY until they are or can be made safe at home.
