DSNAP Sites Approved in Four Parishes

04.09.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has received approval to operate the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) in four additional parishes - Catahoula, East Carroll, Franklin, and St. Helena - for four days beginning Tuesday, April 12 through Friday, April 15.
FNS Approves Three Additional ZIP Codes for Red River DSNAP

04.01.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) today received approval from the federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for additional ZIP codes in Red River Parish that were impacted by recent floods to be added to the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP). Beginning Saturday, April 2, Red River parish ZIP codes 71052, 71034, and 71115 may apply for disaster food benefits.
Almost 52,000 Households Receive Disaster Food Assistance in Initial DSNAP Operation

03.29.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) issued more than $19.1 million in disaster food benefits to 51,720 households who applied for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) aid in 23 parishes last week.

03.29.16 - The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) announced today that four additional Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) sites will open beginning Wednesday, March 30, for certain ZIP codes in Jackson, Rapides, Red River and Sabine parishes. DSNAP site information for impacted parts of Allen, Ascension and Calcasieu parishes was released over the weekend. DSNAP benefits are for residents impacted by flooding earlier this month.

03.24.16 - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients living in areas impacted by the flood may receive automated supplements beginning this week, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) announced today. The federal Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) approved a waiver to issue automated supplements to bring SNAP recipients up to the maximum allotment for March.

Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) officials are urging those impacted by the floods to help speed the aid application process by pre-registering online at www.dcfs.la.gov/dsnap or calling the toll-free helpline at 1-888-LAHELP-U (1-888-524-3578), which is now open between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
